Yet Another Reason Law School is Total Bullshit

With a little less than two weeks before school starts, you would think that it would be time to cram in as much summer as possible, to be partying it up, down, and sideways in Partytown, USA. And if I was about to start at any kind of school but a law school you'd be right.

However, since I do go to law school, it means that the rest of summer has been cancelled, that the cops have gone all Elliot Ness and busted up the party. Why? I already have 100 pages of reading due the first day, and that's only from two of my five classes. Entering 1Ls: it's not too late to back out. It really is as bad as you think it's going to be.

We already got our footnotes. I have 48, which really doesn't sound so bad, but in those 48, there are over 300 sources. Two of the footnotes are over half a page and we're talking small size print.

Oh, and we have to have our citations all done within the first three weeks of school. Like class and OCI aren't enough.

Someone remind me, why did I want to be on law review?

Note to my fellow law bitches: I'm probably going to be an even more of a raging bitch throughout the month of September, so don't say I didn't warn you to steer clear.

I get my law review assignment this Friday. I'm hoping my tier 3 school has a tier 3 law review and my cites will be in the 20s...but I'm guessing I'm kidding myself.

Good warning for the incoming 1Ls, if only I knew then what I know now.

Anyone going to a school with any sort of legal writing "program" during the first year, prepare to give up your friends and relatives for the Blue Book :)
