Law school has ruined my eyesight

Well, yesterday I finally went to see an eye doctor because of my recent blurry vision. I knew things weren't going well when the doctor would tell me to read the bottom line and I'd say what I thought the letter was and my significant other sitting next to me made a cringing face and shook his head. Sometimes he even laughed a little. (Later when I said, "well I know I messed up the C's and O's" he said "yeah, and the N's, R's, H's, Q's and K's" and I said "Oh.")Turns out I'm slightly near-sighted. When he showed me the difference between my regular vision, and with a prescription I was a little surprised.

So I am getting glasses. After my 3 hour lying around because I could see nothing (thanks to that horrible pupil dilating stuff) we went shopping for eyeglasses and I picked a pair out. (Actually the cute girl at the store picked them out and I insisted on looking for another half hour and then went back to the ones she picked out.) I guess listen to the girl who is wearing glasses and looks good in them. So if I look like all the models in the store that looked cute with their glasses I'll be happy. Because to me, everyone I know looks way better in their glasses than I did in any glasses. But I did discover I have a lot to learn. The girl kept using "eyeglass lingo" as I call it to describe what I should/shouldn't do with them. I had no clue what she was talking about. I know "frame" and "lens" and that's about it. I don't even know how to clean them. Thank goodness I only have to wear them during class and sometimes while driving and watching movies, otherwise I'd probably ruin them for sure. Any one wanna tell me some eyeglass info so I don't stare dumbly at the people at the store on Friday when I pick them up?

Law school has DESTROYED my eyesight. I started law school with one prescription, and in the first year, saw my eyesight deteriorate something like four or five prescriptions.

I'm halfway through my second year and my eyesight is getting blurry again. Damn all this reading!

Damn, I am bad at posting comments. So does this mean my eyesight could get even worse. Cause these lenses were not too expensive, and I am cheap! Also, I never said people with glasses were ugly, just that my big round basketball shaped head would look bad in glasses. Geez, it's all about me people.

I don't even read and my eyes are getting worse. If you're anything like me you'll carry all kinda of cleaner (the disposable wipes or the spray bottle and cleaning cloth) with you at all times since dirty lenses are the worst.

I really think it's all the computer usage. My eye doctor told me to work for a 1/2 hour and then take 10 minutes off to rest my eyes. I take 15 just to be safe.

In 2008, I paid about $6,000 to have PRK done to correct my vision. I had perfect 20/20 vision after the procedure.

During 1L, I realized my eyes were getting tired and it was hard to read some small print, so I got a pair of readers like my parents use.

During 2L, the need for readers seemed to disappear, which didn't bother me in the slightest.

During 3L, I was cold called to address something the prof wrote on the board. I was about halfway back in the room, a mid-size lecture hall. I had been looking down at my notebook when he called me... I looked up to see what he was referring to and realized I couldn't see what he wrote on the board. Of course, it was one of those d-bag profs that wanted to make a big deal about it and asked me why I didn't have my glasses. I told him, "Well I paid $6K to have my eyes lasered and had 20/20 vision before I started law school... I guess it's time to go back to the eye doctor..." and he left me alone.

I have glasses and contacts again now... $6,000 down the toilet...FML
